Mercedes-Benz introduced the W123 generation of their E-Class for the 1977 model year. The successor to the W114 & W115, the W123 was a series of mid size luxury cars available as Sedans (W123), Coupes (C123), or Wagons (S123). A long wheelbase version of the sedan known as the V123 Limousine was also offered.

The W123 was fairly well protected from the elements, while the paintwork was unsurpassed. But pre-1981 cars can rust badly and even later W123s are likely to have some corrosion.
